Description

Peak Aksayskiy (3,735 m) takes you west of the familiar Medeo/Shymbulak area into the Aksay gorge — a separate valley system that offers a completely different mountain experience. The route via Yukon is a long day climb through a less-visited gorge with views toward the western Zailiyskiy Alatau.

Aksay is known among local climbers but almost unknown to international visitors. The gorge has its own character: drier, more open, with extensive meadows and different rock formations. The peak itself provides wide panoramic views unavailable from the crowded Tuyuk-Su and Big Almaty gorge peaks.
