Description
Peak Otechestvennoi Voiny (Peak of the Great Patriotic War, 4,050 m) — commonly abbreviated VOV — is one of the more remote four-thousanders in the Tuyuk-Su cirque. Your RU article describes the ascent via the north ridge (1B), emphasising the peak’s defining characteristic: a very long approach for a 1B route.
As your own article on Khrishatogo notes: “Khrishatogo 1B and VOV 1B are both category 1B, but the approach to the first takes 3–4 hours while the approach to the second takes 6–7 hours — and that’s before the technical section.” VOV rewards those willing to walk further than the crowds. The summit sits deep in the cirque, near the Tuyuk-Su glacier and Ordzhonikidze (4,410 m), and the view from its north ridge takes in virtually the entire chain of Tuyuk-Su peaks.
The name honours the Soviet Union’s Great Patriotic War (1941–1945) — part of the tradition of naming Tuyuk-Su peaks after Soviet-era themes (Pioneer, Komsomol, Oktyabrenok, VOV).
