Detailed Description
Titov Peak (3871 m) is one of the most scenic and accessible high summits in the Zailiyskiy Alatau, just a short drive from Almaty. This full-day traverse takes you from Shymbulak ski resort up through the beautiful Mynzhylki plateau, across Titov Pass (3630 m), to the summit with breathtaking 360° views of Big Almaty Lake, glaciers, and the main ridge, then descends via Titov Lakes and Gorelnik waterfalls to Medeo. Total 23 km with 1882 m elevation gain – a rewarding but demanding hike for fit walkers.
Detailed Itinerary
Pickup & drive from Almaty (1–1.5 hours) We pick you up from your hotel/apartment between 7:00–8:00 and drive to Shymbulak ski resort (Chimbulak).
Shymbulak to Mynzhylki plateau (2–2.5 hours)
Steady climb from 2200 m through forest and meadows to the wide Mynzhylki plateau at 3000 m. First big views of the surrounding peaks and the sources of the Malaya Almatinka River.
Mynzhylki to Titov Pass (1.5–2 hours)
Continue along the trail, cross the river after the meteorological station and dam, then ascend to Titov Pass (3630 m). Stunning views of the Tuyuksu peaks and glaciers from the pass.
Titov Pass to Summit of Titov Peak (1–1.5 hours)
Short ridge walk to the summit at 3871 m. Panoramic 360° views: Big Almaty Lake far below, Molodyozhny Peak, glaciers, and the whole Malaya Almatinka gorge. Lunch and celebration photos at the top.
Descent via Titov Lakes & Gorelnik (3–4 hours)
Descend to the beautiful Titov Lakes, then continue down through Orlinoe Gnezdo (Eagle’s Nest) and the scenic Gorelnik waterfalls. The trail is varied and beautiful all the way to Medeo.
Transfer back to Almaty
From Medeo we drive you back to your hotel (30–40 min). Arrival in the city around 18:00–20:00 depending on group pace.
