Description
Lenin Peak (7,134 m), known on the Tajik side as Abu Ali ibn Sino Peak, rises on the border of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan in the Trans-Alay range of the Pamir. It’s often called the most accessible seven-thousander in the world: the classic route from the north has no hard technical climbing, and established base and high camps make the logistics manageable.
That doesn’t make it easy. The classic route is graded 5A for its altitude and length, the glacier between Camp 1 and Camp 2 is heavily crevassed, and the wind on the summit ridge can stop you for days. This is a guided expedition for climbers who already have high-altitude experience: we handle the logistics from Osh, acclimatise properly over two rotations and wait for a weather window for the summit push.

Detailed itinerary
The plan below is the usual shape of the expedition. The exact days on the mountain depend on the weather and on how the group acclimatises, and your guide adjusts them as you go.
Day 1: Arrival in Osh
Meet the guide and the group in Osh, check in to the hotel, gear check and expedition briefing.
Day 2: Osh → Achik-Tash base camp (3,600 m)
About 300 km by road over the Taldyk Pass and across the Alay valley, 6-8 hours. Rockfall sometimes closes the road for a few hours, so we leave early. Base camp is a serviced camp with yurts, a dining tent and hot meals.

Days 3-4: Acclimatisation around base camp
Acclimatisation hikes from base camp, including the Petrovsky shoulder (4,005 m), and a final check of gear and supplies.
Days 5-6: Camp 1 (4,400 m) and Yukhin Peak
We cross the Travellers’ Pass (4,150 m) and follow the moraine of the Lenin glacier to Camp 1, a serviced camp below the north face. The next day is an acclimatisation climb of Yukhin Peak (5,130 m), returning to Camp 1 to sleep.

Days 7-9: First rotation to Camp 2 (5,300 m)
Roped up, we cross the Lenin glacier and the icefall to Camp 2, sleep there, climb higher towards Camp 3 for acclimatisation and come back down. We cross the crevassed sections early in the morning, before the snow bridges soften.

Days 10-11: Rest at base camp
Two days of rest, food and showers at base camp while the guide watches the forecast for a summit window.
Days 12-17: Summit push
Camp 1, Camp 2 and then Camp 3 at 6,100 m, just below the top of Peak Razdelnaya. Summit day starts in the middle of the night: down to the saddle, then up the long ridge and across the Parachutists’ Plateau to the summit, usually 10-14 hours there and back. The summit day is set by the forecast, and the extra days in this block are there to wait for it.

Days 18-19: Descent to base camp
Down through the high camps to base camp. These are also reserve days if the summit push needs more time.

Day 20: Achik-Tash → Osh
The drive back to Osh. The expedition ends in Osh in the evening.
Who this expedition is for
- You’ve climbed above 5,000 m before and know how your body handles altitude.
- You’re comfortable moving roped on a glacier with crampons and an ice axe.
- You’re fit enough to carry a heavy pack between high camps several days in a row.
- You’re ready to wait: on a big mountain the weather sets the schedule.
Good to know
- The summit is not guaranteed. Your guide sets the turnaround time and will turn the group back if the weather, the conditions or someone’s health make it unsafe to continue. Winds of 100 km/h and more on the summit ridge are not unusual.
- Insurance is required. You need travel insurance that covers mountaineering up to 7,200 m and helicopter evacuation.
- Permits. The area is a border zone. We arrange the border zone permit and the climbing registration; we need your passport details at least 30 days before the start.
- Visa. Many nationalities can visit Kyrgyzstan without a visa. Check the current rules for your passport before you book flights.
- Camps. Base camp and Camp 1 are serviced camps with tents and full board. Above Camp 1 we use our own tents and cook on gas stoves.
- Getting to Osh. Osh has an airport with daily flights from Bishkek and international connections.
Lessons from our climbs
- Don’t leave anything you can’t climb without in a high-camp cache. Things do go missing, and the camps don’t take responsibility for them.
- Eat a proper meal before the summit push, even if you have no appetite. At 6,900 m you’ll need every calorie.
- Gas stoves work poorly in the cold. At -20 °C melting snow for drinking water can take well over an hour, so plan for it.
- Don’t trust the Parachutists’ Plateau: the summit looks close, but at 7,000 m every hundred metres takes a long time.
- The Skovorodka (“Frying Pan”) plateau and the icefall hide crevasses. Cross them early, roped up.
Price
- $4,900 per person, flat rate, whatever your group size.
- Deposit to book: 20% ($980 per person); the balance is paid closer to the departure.
- Departures: July and August, dates on request. We confirm a departure once at least 2 climbers have booked; if fewer book, your deposit rolls over to another date or is refunded in full.
- Porters: porters to the high camps are available at an extra cost, price on request.

Did the 2-day Altyn-Emel trip. The Singing Dune at sunset was magical. Our guide handled everything - permits, accommodation, meals. We just showed up and enjoyed. Already planning our next trip with Zabugorshiki.

Solo traveler here. I was nervous about hiking alone in a foreign country but the guide made me feel completely safe. The trail to Kok-Zhailau was beautiful and the photos he took of me were amazing. Only wish the hike was longer!

I had a great experience, communication was very clear from the beginning to the day my guide Eldar picked me up at the hotel. I did the Big Almaty Circuit with Satpayev peak. My guide was great, and took care of everything. He knows the mountains very well and speaks English. They provided a very good quality tent, mat and sleeping bag! Thanks to the whole team!

So happy I made it to the summit! I loved the trip — I had the best days. Thank you so much.

I had a great time, it was a beautiful hike across changing terrains. My guide Eldar provided me with the equipment I needed and fantastic homemade food and snacks along the way. Highly recommended.

Denis is a skilful driver, especially on the demanding roads of Altyn-Emel National Park. He knew just when to lend me a hand, and the route he chose was challenging yet fun! The Aktau Mountains are absolutely unique and the views are incredible. I would never have imagined such a stark difference between Shymbulak and Aktau. Thank you for planning this hike for me! Denis also took brilliant drone videos for us. Marvellous! I'm so glad I had you to handle my itinerary and time in Almaty. I appreciate the way you went beyond expectations to meet my requests, like changing hotels and hiking plans, especially when I had difficulties with my previous hotels. Spasibo!

We really enjoyed discovering Peak Manshuk Mametova with our very fun, experienced, young and passionate guide, Danil. He showed us his own trails, we had a good mix of walking, climbing and glaciers, he made the whole experience unforgettable! Thank you so much.

We really appreciate Eldar as a tour guide, who is very experienced and led us to many unique destinations that few tourists know. Also appreciate Eldar for teaching us how to fly a drone and taking photos of us, and ensuring that we are always safe
